Simile

Your simile smile,
Almost there,
Though not quite.

Searching for the metaphor of a moment,
Saying it’s one thing,
When really, tis another.

Placebo words fulfill intentions.
Loaded with promises,
Fooling the patient to do all the work.

The simile smile smiles a while.
It kind of is but really isn’t.
Seems sincere,
But ask yourself,
What is?

Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe

Can’t elope with cantaloupe,
That would be too silly.
Slice a piece and bite the slope,
Perfect when not chilly.

Mellow melon, tethered skin,
Orange heart, green between.
Simple pleasures, thick and thin,
Have a bite, now dig right in.

Hidden smile

Reconcile thy hidden smile,
Buried in the dim.
Fish or dig, thy cheeky grin,
It’s there, not lost within.

Plain in sight, though lost to me,
Where art though, cheeky smirk?
Much too hidden, covered up

My oh my, this is such work.

Yet with a click and switch of light,
The smile comes now to sight.
There I am for there it was
Hidden in the dark.
