10 Things to be more productive

In our search to be more efficient with our time, some simple reminders can go a long way to helping us achieve our goals or just get through our to-do lists. Rather than a long-winded post, here are ten simple easy to follow recommendations to get more out of your life.

  1. Turn off your cell phone.
    • This should be a no-brainer, yet it’s one of the hardest things for any of the tech savvy people.
  2. Make a list… and do it using a paper and pen.
    • Don’t get the app, don’t use the notes on your phone. Get a pen and paper, make the list and cross out every time you do something. It’ll surprise you how much crossing out something can motivate you to get to other items on that list.
  3. Multi-task as you would crossfit.
    • If you have a lot of things, divide each task into several parts, and alternate so you don’t get bored, tired or aggravated with any of your tasks.
  4. If something you’re doing is annoying, repeat out loud the good of you doing that chore. Be your own personal trainer.
  5. Set rewards for every chore you can enjoy once you have finished. Make sure to do it at the end of the list, because if you constantly reward yourself, you will focus on the reward exclusively and you need to have motivation to earn.
  6. Listen to music that motivates you. You’d be surprised how good I pass the vacuum with rock on and that videogame music scores are best for doing the dishes.
  7. Give thanks to yourself every time you finish something. Gratitude is a hell of a motivator especially when given genuinely.
  8. Treat chores like a game or a physical challenge like from Double Dare (except don't get hurt). Time yourself, do it hopping on one leg and make it fun. If you manage to do that, you’ll be surprised how much you can do.
  9. Drop the excuses. We are all wonderfully creative when it comes to generating reasons to not do something.
  10. Respect priorities. Just because Netflix is going to do a purge doesn’t mean you get out of doing the things you have to do.

Any and all other suggestions are more than welcome. So by all means, see the comment tab and wail away!
